Black Sands Entertainment is currently the number 1 indie black owned comic publisher across the nation with comics like Black Sands: The Seven Kingdoms, The First Pharaoh, Cosmic Girls along with an Animation DVD. With a commitment to the promotion and uplifting of the black community they produce content for and about the black community, while also investing back into it. With content that lacks a hidden agenda that details African history and level of quality that dares you to turn a page. Upon watching the first episode trailer of “Black Sands, The Seven Kingdoms” I quickly noticed, and appreciated, the diversity within the cast we’re introduced to. With characters of different shades, sizes and conditions. The art style alone is unique from other comics I’ve read, though I can see some commonalities. The dedication to the inclusion of Egyptian history alone is a new experience you can’t help but try to compare to other African inspired comic characters. After displaying Auset’s powers I compared them to Storms from the MCU but even the basis and designs of their characters differ a lot. There are definitely moments where you can’t help but say “No!” or are surprised and from what I’ve seen their production company along with the Black Sands series is very promising and entertaining! I’m definitely interested in reading “Black Sands, The First Pharaoh” next!
